Altranun Bus Shelter Project  - 08/12/2008

Over the last few weeks I have been working very hard in partnership with Altarnun Parish Council and Altarnun Primary School on the Bus Shelter Mural initiative in Altarnun and Five Lanes.

All the materials for the project were sourced locally from Focus in Launceston and Tavistock Woodland. I would like to express a sincere thankyou on behalf of D & C Police, Altarnun Parish Council and Altarnun Primary School to these local businesses who have been extremely supportive with resources that they have provided.

Myself and PCSO Sharon Chinn spent a couple of afternoons with some of the children from Altarnun School. The children involved in the project were from years five and six together with the two children who designed the winning pictures. The designs were projected and the children traced the images onto the boards. Then they had the fun of painting the mural onto the boards. They did a superb job and displayed brilliant teamwork during the whole process.

Altarnun Parish Council have worked hard to prepare the shelters prior to the murals being placed in the shelters.

This initiative has been successful in giving the children ownership of the shelters and has also made them attractive and a pleasure to use.

I will now be moving onto Egloskerry School to co-ordinate the Bus Shelter initiative, as part of my grand plan to roll this out through all of my parishes.
