Another busy 8 weeks has passed and we are now into lighter evenings and warmer weather! We have now held our first new police surgery in Lezant parish. They are being held at the monthly coffee morning in Trebullett Hall on the first Wednesday of each month from 10.30am to 12noon, so we look forward to meeting as many people as possible, everyone welcome. We met loads of very welcoming ladies and had coffee and chocolate biscuits, many thanks to them all and we look forward to seeing you next month. We have now located our PACT postcards and postbox at Lewannick Post Office, so please feel free to complete a postcard with any concerns or problems in the area. So far speeding and dog fouling issues have been raised. Speeding is an on-going issue with many of our parishes, and the dog fouling issues have been passed to the NCDC street rangers. There are also postcards being circulated in Tresmeer which you can complete and return to myself at Launceston Police Station or hand in to Sheila Montague at The Old School for me to collect. CYCLING, I am now very busy doing my cycling courses thanks to the better weather and the lighter evening’s. I have been running courses at Trekenner school & South Petherwin school and I have also now completed the new WISEbikes course at Lewannick, and Egloskerry schools. Over the next few weeks I will be starting more courses with Werrington and Tregadillet schools. You will hopefully also see me on a bicycle soon patrolling my parishes! I have the uniform and I’ve passed the police cycling approval so I’m just waiting for my bike to arrive! Watch this space!! Following the success of the Cyclewise courses which I’ve run in Tregadillet, South Petherwin and Trekenner primary schools over this past school year I am looking to run a fun cycle ride working in partnership with the Parish councils, schools and parents. Its been suggested to me by a parent that a parish to parish cycle ride could be arrange, i.e. South Petherwin to Tregadillet, either after school one evening, at a weekend or during the summer holidays. At the moment we are collecting together any ideas, suggestions and interest, so any questions please feel free to contact either myself (as below) or Mr Phil Parsons, chairman South Petherwin Parish Council, 01566 777179. We’re also preparing now for the long school summer holidays which are looming. Some dates for the rural parish diary so far… Sunday 3rd August We will be at the Werrington Country fair with a Police Respect/Responsibilty van for the Youths and kids. Monday 11th August I will be in South Petherwin and Tregadillet with the Police Van which is aimed at youths and kids. It is full of exciting kit ranging from computer games to a tuck shop! We will also give advice, and property mark any items such as bikes and mobile phones. More details nearer the time. Wednesday 13th August kids/youths are welcome to come and join us playing sports at South Petherwin. Again more details nearer the time. Monday 18th August The police van will hopefully be visiting Altarnun and Lewannick. Wednesday 20th August kids/youths are welcome to come and join us playing sports at Altarnun. Again more details nearer the time. You can contact me on (01566) 771419, at Launceston Police Station or email sharon.chinn@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk. However, can I take this opportunity to remind everyone that dial 999 in an emergency, or the number for non-emergencies and reporting a crime is 08452 777 444.
