Welcome to Hayle Foundry

Your Beat Manager

Beat Manager - PC Trevorrow

I am PC Graham Trevorrow. I joined the Devon & Cornwall Constabulary in May 2003. I have always worked in West Cornwall and I joined the Hayle Neighbourhood Team in June 2007, taking over the Hayle Foundry Beat. I work this beat together with Police Community Support Officer Jenny Hosking. Jenny has worked this beat since March 2007 and before that was the town Traffic Warden for several years. Together we have built a good knowledge of our beat and the issues that arise.

If you would like to help us prioritise work in your neighbourhood, tell us your priorities online or come and join us at one of our regular events or meetings.

Active Priorities

Our top priorities for your neighbourhood are as follows:

Speeding Traffic along Mellanear Road, Hayle

You Said: 1 Jul 2010

Regular reports have been received through our community engagement work about concerns over the amount of vehicles that speed along this road.

So far we have:

This is a 30 mph limit road with numerous hazards. Several Speed Enforcement checks have now been carried out this by Neighbourhood Team Officers and also by colleagues from the Roads Policing Unit. Numerous warnings have been given and more deserving drivers have received fixed penalty fines and penalty points. As a result of our request Cornwall Council has just installed a Speed Visor monitoring device which gathers data and provides a flashing warning to speeding drivers.  If there is enough local interest from residents to become volunteers, in the autumn/winter we may be able set up a Community Speed Watch scheme as this has been successful at Connor Downs.

Illegal Parking in and around Foundry Square, Hayle

You Said: 1 Jul 2010

This priority was identified as result of regular complaints about illegal and inconsiderate parking at Foundry Square. This includes parking on pavements; blocking dropped kerb pedestrian access points used by wheelchairs and prams/push chairs; parking in bus stops  and parking in close proximity to junctions creating a danger as result of the obstruction and restricted view.

So far we have:

For some time foot patrols have continued to monitor this area. Many fixed penalty notices have been issued and also when more appropraite some drivers have been warned. One driver was recently summonsed to Court for obstruction of the  pavement. The case is being heard at present at West Cornwall Magistrates Court.

    About Your Neighbourhood

Hayle can be referred to as the Gateway to the West. It is a key town in West Cornwall with a rich heritage. Hayle's industrial importance may have diminished since the industrial revolution yet Hayle has much to offer. Hayle hosts a huge influx of visitors each year, keen to enjoy the beauty and recreational opportunities that the area provides. The town effectively has two commercial centres, Foundry and Copperhouse.

The Hayle Foundry beat is one of the two beats covering Hayle town. Within the Foundry beat there is a mix of residential housing, commercial businesses and schools. Hayle Foundry area covers the south western end of the town, it's name deriving from Hayle's heritage. The pending redevelopment of the Hayle harbour area will further increase the size of the town.

Keeping in touch with the issues that matter is one of the Neighbourhood Team's key aims so please feel free to contact us to discuss any issue.
