Welcome to Newquay Neighbourhood Policing

Newquay Sector Inspector
11628 Dave Folland
I am Inspector Dave Folland and it is my responsibility to deliver policing across Newquay and St Columb Major and the villages surrounding these towns.
I have over 31 years experience as a police officer. I have served in both Devon and Cornwall in community based roles, 24/7 policing, and specialist teams. I have also worked on several major crime enquiries. I served for 10 years in Newquay as a sergeant, both as a patrol sergeant providing 24/7 front line policing and as a Neighbourhood Team Leader working closely with the local community. I have now returned to Newquay, my home town, to manage a dedicated team of officers committed to working with partner agencies and the community to identify and address local issues that are causing concern.
Newquay has the reputation of being the surfing capital of Britain and everything that goes with that label, however, it is also recognised as a key family holiday destination. Balancing local needs with those of holiday-makers, and a population that can swell from 24000 to 125000 brings significant challenges. We fully support the process known as PACT (Partners and Communities Together) which provides an effective forum to listen and then work together towards clear goals, and to achieve this every neighbourhood has a dedicated Neighbourhood Beat Manager (NBM) and Police Community Support Officer (PCSO). Your local officer can be identified [and contacted] from this site.
‘Newquay Safe’ is a example of PACT working effectively. The police, Cornwall Council, Newquay Town Council, Newquay Residents Association, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Safeguarding Childrens Board, NHS Health, Newquay Association of Licensed Premises are just some of the partners working together to make and keep Newquay a safe place to live, work in and visit. This partnership has achieved national recognition. Similar groups work across the rest of area, they may be on a smaller scale but they work in the same way to deliver services that meet local needs. This combined effort has resulted in year on year reductions in crime and anti-social behaviour across your local policing sector.
Newquay has now been chosen as one of 12 national Neighbourhood Agreement pathfinders enabling local communities to have a stronger voice about local issues and to build better relationships with service providers. I am fully committed to working with communities and partner organisations and value the guidance and opportunity that this pathfinder will provide.
I am proud to lead a local policing team that is committed to working with you and for you.
