We make all of the young people aware of the reason why we are in the area, regardless of whether we have been called to the area or not, so that they are aware that they will be dealt with proactively and robustly should we then get a call to the area.

    About Your Neighbourhood

Kings Tamerton and Weston Mill have a joint population of 4,430 split between the two areas.

Kings Tamerton has a high percentage of residents within the age range of 45 to 64 and many, because of the closeness of the community, have not moved away following retirement.

Kings Tamerton is slowly gaining more young families in residence in some of the newer estates and many young people visit the area due to the infant school, primary schools and two secondary schools being situated within the area.

Tamarside Community College is one of the largest schools in the city with approximately 1,500 students. The college provides many evening sports activities utilising the facilities and has a successful football club with numerous teams involving a wide range of age groups.

    Tamarside Community College

Key community areas which serve as meeting points are the local shops, post office and community centre.

The housing stock in this area consists mainly of housing association, private terraced housing and bungalows with good links to the local rail stations, bus services, A38 parkway and the dockyard.

Community issues and concerns are focused around nuisance and rowdy behaviour and criminal damage. However, the area suffers from very little serious crime.
