Sgt Simon Tennant

Welcome to the Ottery 'Rural' policing website. My name is Simon Tennant and I have been a police officer for 28 years.  I grew up, went to school and have lived most of my life in Ottery's policing area. It is a safe and beautiful part of the world to live and I hope with your help, and the hard work of the officers and staff shown within this website that it will long continue to remain so. If you have any concerns, or think I can help in any way please do not hesitate to contact me at

simon.tennant@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk or if you prefer one of the officers within our team.

      About Your Neighbourhood

The Ottery St Mary Rural neighbourhood consists of a number of attractive villages set within stunning East Devon countryside. The population numbers about 14000 people and consists of a mixture of young and old, families, local workers and commuters. Villages tend to be traditional in nature, often with established small businesses and shops. The farming industry features heavily with many widely scattered family run farms. The majority of residents own their own homes and the area is quite affluent. New residents continue to be attracted by the beautiful countryside and its convenient access to the East Devon coastline, City of Exeter, motorway and Exeter International Airport. The area continues to thrive and grow with plans to develop a new town to be called 'Cranbrook'. This is a safe place to live and work with crime being low compared to the national average.
