    About Your Neighbourhood

This is a large rural and urban area which includes the villages of Galmpton and Churston and the popular beachfront area of Broadsands.  Since 2006 the area also includes the housing estates of Whiterock and Hookhills, Paignton.

The area is mostly high class, high value properties occupied by mainly professional or retired people.  Families mostly occupy the housing estates of Hillrise and Dart View, Galmpton, and Whiterock and Hookhills, with children and teenagers.

There are small shopping complexes at Churston Broadway and Hookhills.  There is a library at Churston.  Light industry in the form of a boat yard and drydocking can be found at Galmpton Creek, together with paint blasting and scaffolding companies.

The area boasts three schools, namely Churston Grammar, and Primarys at Galmpton and Whiterock.

    Torbay Beach Team

There have been problems of petty damage and Anti Social Behaviour throughout the area which creates quality of life issues for all residents.  During the summer months Broadsands and Elberry beaches are magnets for young persons, with occasional instances of Criminal Damage, littering, and other Anti Social activities.

This Neighbourhood Team, which is based at Brixham Police Station is supervised by Sergeant Dave Casley, and consists of Neighbourhood Beat Manager PC Tracy Serruys, and PCSO Paul Martin, supported by Special Constabulary Sergeant Paul Addison and Special Constable Mark Hobbs.  The team is also supported by the services of Youth Intervention Officer PC Ruth Le Messurier (See news item).

The public Enquiry Office for Brixham is situated next to the Town Hall at Bolton Cross.  If you have any local issues you wish to report or discuss, please call in and see Ged Stone at the Office.

This Neighbourhood is a safe area in which to live with crime levels being below the National
