Welcome to Roundham with Hyde

Your Beat Manager

Simon Lee

PC Simon Lee

I am PC Simon Lee. I have been a Police Officer for 8 years and joined Devon and Cornwall Constabulary in 2008, transferring from Dorset. For most of my career I have worked on Uniformed Response but in doing so I have also worked closely with local communities to tackle neighbourhood issues. I joined the Paignton Neighbourhood Team in September 2009 and am responsible for the ward of Roundham with Hyde, which encompasses Paignton Town Centre and St Michaels Parish. I will be working closely with our Police Community Support Officers. If you see me about please stop me and say hello! I’d like to know what we can do to continue making Paignton a safe place to live.

Active Priorities

Our top priorities for your neighbourhood are as follows:

Street drinkers and begging in Paignton town centre

You Said: 1 Jul 2010

Paignton town centre is a safe place to work and shop but there are occassional reports of street drinkers causing problems and also reports of begging in and about the town.

So far we have:

The Police tackle all reports robustly and provide high visibility food patrols throughout the days and evenings. Police officers supported by their PCSO's are regularly out in the town ensuring it is safe and crime free. When problems are identified we take immediate and robust action. Thanks to high visibility policing incidents of this nature in the town have reduced dramatically with very few reported in recent months

Anti Social Bevaviour - Victoria Park

You Said: 1 Jul 2010

Historically there have been incidents of youth related ASB in Victoria Park during the summer months.

So far we have:

In an effort to curtail any potential problems this year the Police will be targetting the area with high visability patrols. We will be working closely with the Youth service who have a new facility in the Park to engage with the target group to provide diversionary activities. We will deal robustly with any offences

Disorder - Station Square Paignton

You Said: 1 Jul 2010

As the summer months approach there has been an increase in the incidents of disorder in the early hours of the morning when people leave licensed premises.

So far we have:

We will target this area with high visibility patrols at problem times and deal robustly with offenders. We will be working closely with the Licensing Dept to highlight any possible problems with licensed premises and requesting courts issue drinking banning orders for any persons convicted of drink related offences

    About Your Neighbourhood

Neighbourhood: Town Centre, Esplanade, St Michaels.

Much of the activity, commercial, social, and Policing, is focused in the High Street due to the concentration of shops and numerous licensed premises. In the summer, the town is supported by a healthy tourism industry catering for families, and thousands of visiting International students.

Paignton is a safe place to live, however, the main issues of concern within the town are anti- social behaviour including inconsiderate driving.

We are supported by our policing team of PCSO's Mike Brown, Tom Dayment, and Barrie Nolan.  We are all based at Paignton Police Station.
