I have been a member of the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary for 28 years and have served mainly in Torbay and Plymouth. In 2005 I became the Chudleigh Sector inspector.
Since that time we have had considerable success in reducing the level of recorded crime and I am now keen to improve our level of public consultation on the sector. We recognise the importance of your concerns and will do our best to address them through the PACT process of meetings which we are introducing in each neighbourhood.
Chudleigh Sector
The Chudleigh Sector comprises of around 300 square miles on the northern section of the Teignbridge District Council area. It serves the towns of Exminster, Chudleigh, Bovey Tracey, Heathfield, Ashburton, Buckfastleigh and Moretonhampstead and many other smaller communities each of which are strongly individual in character.
Dartmoor National Park and Haldon Forest are centres of tourism and recreation, but the area retains its strong agricultural base. Devon’s three busiest roads, the A30, A38, and A380 all run through the area and are used by many of the residents who are attracted by the rural location and ready access to the employment centres of Exeter, Plymouth and Torbay. The area has a very low rate of recorded crime and our staff are working hard to continue to build on the significant reductions that have been achieved in recent years.
