The Beat Manager for Sidmouth Town is PC Jim Tyrrell.  He is assisted by PCSO Jay Bowden who covers Sidmouth (South) and PCSO Steve Blanchford-Cox who covers Sidmouth (North).

The Beat Manager for the rural areas covering Newton Poppleford, Sidford, Sidbury and Salcombe Regis – is PC Dave Wallace. He has 20 years of policing experience and has worked in several stations throughout the Force. He is assisted by PCSO Alex Powe.

Reduce Anti Social Behaviour

You Said: 29 Jan 2012

You wanted us to deal with Anti Social Behaviour, in particular that caused by persons under the influence of alcohol.

So far we have:

Members of the Local Policing Support Teams and Neighbourhood Policing have been tasked to patrol the areas of concern. They have been instructed to deal with incidents of poor behaviour robustly. An update will follow on their progress.

Work is continuing on this subject. Directed Patrols at target times, and work is ongoing with licensee's.

Poor Standards of Driving and Parking outside local Schools and Fire Station.

You Said: 29 Jan 2012

You were concerned about the standards of Driving and Parking outside local Schools, and the Fire Station in Woolbrook Road.

So far we have:

PCSO's Alex Powe and Steve Blanchford-Cox have commenced an Operation to combat this problem. This is in partnership with Local Schools, East Devon District Council, and Devon Fire Service.

Parents of Local Schools have received a joint letter from The Police and The Fire Service, explaining of the dangers of bad parking, especially near the fire station.

Press release completed, explaining how members of the public should report bad parking.

Patrols are being directed to problem areas at problem times.

Burglary Reduction

You Said: 20 Dec 2011

You were worried about offences of Burglary occuring in the area, and have asked for measures to be taken to prevent further offences happening.

So far we have:

The number of offences committed are very low, however officers have worked hard to reduce them.

Officers from the Local Policing Support Teams, have carried out a number of Operations, including plain clothes patrols, vehicle stop checks and crime prevention meetings. A number of persons have been stopped and checked. To date no offenders have been identified, but there has been a reduction in the number offences of this nature.

    About Your Neighbourhood

    Welcome to the Neighbourhood Policing web page for Sidmouth. Your Neighbourhood Team is made up of one sergeant, two constables and three police community support officers (PCSOs).

    The neighbourhood beat area covers the town of Sidmouth plus Newton Poppleford, Sidford, Sidbury and Salcombe Regis.

    Sidmouth is a beautiful seaside town, with a large proportion of its residents being of retirement age. Fortunately, reported crime is very low in comparison with the rest of the country.
