Rural East Devon

Inspector Antonia Weeks
Welcome to the Rural East Devon webpage!
My name is Antonia Weeks, and I am the sector inspector for the Rural East Devon area.
Rural East Devon is a unique policing sector in the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary: it is the only one which borders two other police forces, extending from Stoke Cannon, North of Exeter, to the Dorset and Somerset boundaries in the East, covering an area of some 300 square miles. Although it is remote, it becomes busy during the summer with many tourists visiting nearly 20 miles of the fantastic Jurassic Coast which runs along the Southern edge. These characteristics present particular policing challenges. Criminals travel into the area from neighbouring counties to commit crime, targeting remote farms and rural properties, and officers have to travel many miles to deal with a rich variety of incidents. Nonetheless, Rural East Devon is a safe place to live and work, enjoying one of the lowest levels of violent crime per 1000 population in Devon and Cornwall. Moreover, the neighbourhood policing teams, supported by their patrol colleagues, work tirelessly to provide a top-quality policing service to people and communities in Rural East Devon.
