Torridge Sector

Insp. Shaun Kenneally
Hello, I am Inspector Shaun Kenneally and I am the Sector Inspector for Torridge. I joined Devon and Cornwall in 1992 and have worked in North Devon most of my policing career, my first station being Bideford where I served as a constable and later as a detective. I worked at Torrington as a constable and took on a variety of roles in Barnstaple. I have also served on a drugs enforcement team covering North Devon. I became a Sgt serving in Barnstaple and Exeter before promotion to Inspector, where I worked as the Sector Inspector for Ilfracombe, before coming to Torridge in August 2006. I am delighted to be serving in Torridge as I was raised here, went to school here and I know the area. I live in Torridge with my wife and two children. When not at work I enjoy playing competitive sport and keeping fit. I also manage and coach the Torridgeside under 11 boys football team, which can be more stressful than being at work!
My aim is to ensure local people are confident in their local police, that they are safe and they feel Torridge Sector is a safe place to live, work and visit. We have had some real successes in reducing crime and anti-social behaviour across Torridge, but there is no room for complacency as I know this is of little comfort to those of you effected by crime or disorder. There are some real challenges which are often difficult to overcome and in order to do so we rely on the assistance of our local communities to work with us. This strong community spirit is prevalent across Torridge, our work is made that much easier because of your support and information.
Police visibility across the Sector has been enhanced with the growing number of police community support officers (PCSO's) and an active Special Constabulary. I know from your feedback that our PCSO's are providing a much improved community link. With our beat teams there is a focus to deliver policing that addresses your needs and expectations. They will continue to work hard to ensure they are accessible to you, that you feel confident and able to have your say, knowing it will influence local delivery in your area.
Neighbourhood Team Leaders
Pennie Channing
I am Sergeant 4298 Pennie Channing, Team Leader for Holsworthy with responsibility for supervising the work of the Holsworthy Town and Rural Beat Teams as well as 4 Patrol Officers and the Station Enquiry Officer.
I joined the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary in 1993 and after working in various stations and departments accross the Force area I moved to Holsworthy in may 2003. During my time at Holsworthy I have seen many positive changes. The Police Team has grown considerably with the introduction of three Police Community Support Officers in April 2006 and an additional Constable post in the summer of 2006. In June 2007, having well outgrown the tiny station built in 1997, we moved back into the 1950's built refurbished station accross the road.
My role is very wide ranging and interesting. Each day brings new challenges and new projects. Holsworthy is one of the safest places to live in the country and I intend to make sure it stays that way!
Paul Searle
I am Sergeant 4316 Paul Searle the Neighbourhood Team Leader for Torrington.
I joined the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary in 1993 and since that time I have worked in a variety of posts in Torbay, North Cornwall and Plymouth before coming home to North Devon in 2003.
It was a pleasure to have been appointed as Neighbourhood Team Leader for Torrington in 2009. In my role I am responsible for supervising the rural and town neighbourhood teams.
Torrington and the surounding parishes are a safe place to live with a very low crime rate. The likelyhood of you becoming a victim of crime fall far below the national average.
Working Together
Success is achieved by working together with local people and local partner agencies and I am committed to building on these strong relationships. We do live in one of the safest areas of the country and with your help we intend to keep it that way.
