Welcome to St Marychurch

Your Beat Manager

Lee Metherell

I am PC Lee Metherell, your Neighbourhood beat manager. I have been in this role since May 09, and prior to that a response officer for 8 years. I transferred to the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary 4 years ago from Thames Valley Police where I served in Reading Central for 4 years. I was born and raised in Torquay and spent the majority of my younger years in Babbacombe and St Marychurch.

I very much look forward to meeting you and working with partnerships and agencies available to me, along with Kathryn and Daniel your Police Community Support Officers.

Please do not hesitate to contact Kath, Dan or myself should you wish to raise any issues.

I am a Police community Support Officer for St Marychurch and Babbacombe. I have been in this job since 2007, the majority of this time working in Hele and Pendennis before moving to my new patch quite recently. I am looking forward to meeting you all and learning a new area to work. When you see me out and about please come and say hello. I love working this role within the police being out and about in the community and working together to solve concerns and issues of the local community .

Daniel Locker

I have been a PCSO for twelve months now, where I initially worked in Chelston and Livermead.  I now work in St. Marychurch and Babbacombe.  I have met a lot of the community but very much look forward to meeting the rest.  If you see me out and about in your area, please stop me and say hello.

Anti-Social Behaviour - The Scout Hut

You Said: 17 Jul 2010

There have been numerous reports of Anti-Social Behaviour on Easterfield Lane by the Scout Hut.  Some of the reports are of youths riding around on motorbikes, graffitti in the area and most recently arson.

So far we have:

The police are working closely with those who work with and around the Scout Hut in order to resolve the ongoing issues.  Police are providing a regular high visability presence in the evenings but need your help to catch those involved.  If you have anything to report of a similar nature please get in touch with the Police by calling 08452 777 444 and quoting reference number FT/10/4838.  The information will then be passed onto the neighbourhood policing team.

    About Your Neighbourhood

    Agatha Torquay Cliffs

The patch area covers St Marychurch, Babbacombe and Plainmoor. The St Marychurch part of the patch includes the outlying village of Maidencombe and the coastline north of Torquay out to Labrador Bay car park. I cover the whole coastline between there and Walls Hill in Babbacombe. This includes the beaches at Maidencombe, Watcombe, Petit Tor, Oddicombe and Babbacombe as well as Babbacombe Downs. The area contains two large secondary schools, St Cuthbert Mayne and Westlands and five primary schools. It also covers Plainmoor football ground and the shopping areas of Reddenhill Road, St Marychurch Road and St Marychurch Precinct. There are twenty-seven licensed premises. The residential areas are a mixture of privately owned and privately rented housing with some smaller areas of housing association rented homes. The Babbacombe area also includes a number of larger houses that have been converted to nursing homes and flats as well as some larger hotels.
