Inspector James Mayne is responsible for Torquay's Neighbourhood Policing Team.
Assisting him, he has 2 sergeants (Neighbourhood Team Leaders, or 'NTLs'), 11 Neighbourhood Beat Managers (NBMs) and 16 Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).
I live in the Bay with my Husband and 2 young children. In my spare time I Kayak and enjoy outdoor activities with my family. I have been a Police Officer for 17 years. After my first 2 years as a response officer I was a Neighbourhood Beat Manager covering Paignton Town Centre. I then joined CID in 1998 and specialised in victim centred crime and was also a Family Liaison Officer for several Homicide Investigations before joining the Vehicle and Burglary team in 2006. I returned from maternity leave as a custody Sergeant at Torquay in 2007 and then joined the Torquay Neighbourhood Policing Team in February 2009 as a Neighbourhood Team Leader. I very much enjoy engaging with the community and trying to solve problems to improve the lives of the community. Also of immense benefit is working closely with different agencies, utilising their skills and powers to tackle issues where they are perhaps more appropriate. The Neighbourhood team currently has 27 staff to cover Torquay and the role is very demanding, extremely busy and very rewarding.
I have lived in Torbay all of my live and was brought up in the Paignton area. I now reside in the Torquay area with my wife who is a nurse at Torbay Hospital. I have served in Devon and Cornwall Constabulary since 2002 completing a number of roles. For the first four years I served as a patrol officer in the Paignton area before moving to Preston where I was the Neighbourhood Beat Manager for three years. I then came to work in Torquay patrol before being promoted to one of the Sergeants of the Torquay Neighbourhood Team in 2010.
